How do I go about securing a place for my child at nursery?

We recommend starting with a personal tour of the nursery you’re interested in if you haven’t done so already. Visiting allows you to meet our team, discuss your requirements in person, and truly appreciate what we offer your family. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask the nursery manager about availability and the registration process. Our nurseries fill up quickly, especially now that additional funding is being made available to parents of babies. To secure a place with us, we advise booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If you’re expecting a new baby or planning a move, it’s wise to start your search sooner rather than later.

My child has special educational needs and/or disability (SEND), what support do you offer?

At Little Oaks, we recognise the critical importance of early identification and intervention in children's development. We place great value on our educators' role in monitoring progress and identifying when a child may need additional support. This proactive approach allows us to implement the necessary support, helping every child in our nurseries reach their full potential. Each of our nurseries has a designated SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) who oversees the additional support for children with developmental differences. We collaborate closely with parents/carers and any relevant specialists to ensure that each child’s needs are effectively met. Our practitioners also engage in regular training to enhance their skills in supporting children with additional needs, ensuring that we provide the highest quality care and education for all.

All of our nurseries are open 52 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 6:00pm. We do not open on bank holidays.

What is the Early Years Foundation Stage?

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5 years old. All schools and Ofsted-registered early years’ providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
